Empower Your Vote with Ranked Choice Voting
Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) is a simple, yet powerful way to vote. Voters can better express their candidate preferences.
Ranked choice voting gives every voter the freedom to fully express their support for candidates they like without fear their vote will be wasted or help elect someone they do not like.
RCV is used in 50+ U.S. jurisdictions giving 14 million voters are strong voice. Takoma Park (MD) was the first city to adopt RCV in 2007. Greenbelt (MD) passed a ballot referendum in 2025 to move city elections to RCV.
Ranked choice voting (RCV) transforms the voting experience by preventing wasted votes. It ensures that every vote contributes to electing a candidate who truly represents the majority’s choice.
- Eliminates the fear of wasting your vote.
- Promotes candidates who reflect the community’s values.
- Encourages diverse candidates to run for office.
How RCV Works
We rank things all the time and express our preferences when we are shopping, going out to eat, etc.
Elections do not reflect how we make choices everyday. How we vote in our elections does not give people the option to express their preferences.
